Ye gads! A new Mekons studio album, the first since 2002's Out Of Our Heads, is currently being mastered. Tour plans for this fall, including some U.S. dates in September/October. Lovely, just lovely.
Why the Mekons, after all of these years?
Because the show I saw on the 25th anniversary tour was one of the most brilliant things I've ever seen.
Because of their shambolic approach to their recording career with regards to the capriciousness of major labels in terms of trying to become the next big thing.
Because they have fun onstage.
Because the music is still great.
Just because there is no better alternative.
