Italian Football Play Suspended Indefinitely

One of my afternoon rituals is to tune into Sky Sports Through The Night (4:00 pm PST) to catch any developing football stories. I was shocked by what I saw leading off tonight: violence from fans at the Serie A Sicilian derby between Catania and Palermo earlier today, culminating in the death of one police officer, who died from injuries resulting from an explosive device that was thrown inside his car, according to Sky. As a result, all football in Italy is to be postponed indefinitely.

Sadly, the quote from the Commissioner of the Italian Football Federation is all too true: Luca Pancalli said: "What we're witnessing has nothing to do with soccer, so Italian soccer is stopping.".

This story is just developing, so we shall see how long it takes the Italian Federation to control their fans.
